As Laughing Dog, I worked with Zenith Electronics for over 8 years. When Zenith was purchased by LG (and I closed Laughing Dog and moved to MD) we did what I believe to be our best work. The challenge was how to create momentum for LG plasma tvs when the commercial marketplace was being dominated by Phillips. The “High Definition Heightened” Campaign was one of our most successful campaigns. Not only did it give the LG sales team the messaging they needed to explain why their solutions were smarter, the look of the campaign gave them permission to knock on the doors of some of the more prestigious hotel chains in North America. This campaign ran for only one year, but it helped generate over $250 million in advance orders.
When it comes to organs, Hammond is a legend. Keyboard titans like Keith Emerson, Lonnie Smith, and Gregg Allman made their mark on musical history playing Hammond organs and Leslie speakers. But in 2011, Hammond was struggling to connect with the next generation of keyboard players. Foreign manufacturers were dominating the scene with more comprehensive solutions that were easier to haul from gig to gig. Armed with only a shoestring budget and a surprising amount of leeway, my team and I were awarded the task to retune, reposition and help rebirth a noble brand. While I was only able to work with them for a couple years, our branding lives on to this day.

“Airfone? Really?” When we received the call to pitch this client, even we were a bit surprised. But of course there was more to the story. The client was in a awkward period of transition. They had contracts with airlines to transition over to inflight wi-fi, but there were still way more planes in the air with Airfone than wi-fi at the time. And they needed to show support for their platform if they were to maintain their contracts. So… we got the account and after a couple creative false starts, we finally landed on “Plane Man” and the account… (cough cough)… took off.

Of all the clients I’ve ever worked with, Aladdin will always have a special place in my heart. For the nearly five years we worked for them, my team created some of the most odd, fun, bizarre and successful B2B marketing of my career. Naturally, this happened when software piracy was a booming business and before such game-changers such as SaaS, smartphones and Amazon.
